Heart

As soon as the phone clicked,
My despair totally flicked.

A heart attack! I was told;
She's at the hospital, hurt and lost!

My soul suddenly climbed up my lumpy throat,
Scratching and screaming, without faith or remorse.

My chest pounded and my veins swelled;
Dread and agony had all fallen into the great well.

Her scars cleanly tore my skin;
They ripped it to shreds, scratched it 'til thin.

Even her deep wounds from years past
Caught up and attacked, all at once.

All that suffering, from birth to morrow,
I suffered it then, with throbbing pain and divine sorrow.
